PA Love: Mr Ed's

I was born and raised in Central Pennsylvania and for some reason I stuck around. I have a major soft spot for Central PA in my heart and even though there are awesome cities allllll over I can't picture myself moving far away. See, Pennsylvania can be pretty awesome sometimes and hopefully I can give you a glimpse of the craziness that makes me love the Keystone state. Plus exploring my home state was one of my 2013 goals.

Mister Ed's Elephant Museum and Candy Emporium
Orrtanna, Pennsylvania
aka somewhere along Route 30

Mister Ed's Elephant Museum and Candy Emporium is a treasure that you could only find in the state of Pennsylvania. I'm not sure how, why or when Mister Ed's was founded but it's a whole lot of awesome. I visited the shop/museum years ago and was amazed by all the candy and collection of random elephants. I'm talking jewelry, figurines, stuffed animals, amusement park rides, really anything elephant you could imagine. Since that time Mister Ed's had a tragic fire and lost everything. All of the elephants, gone. They did rebuild and since the fire have received elephant donations from all over the world to remake the museum. It is still just as awesome. Plus there are two life sized elephant sculptures and one is a fountain.

Go for the candy. Stay for the elephants.

  1. I'll have to check that out while I am still living in PA!

  2. Mmm, Pennsylvania IS good for candy! I have only been to Philadelphia and Gettysburg. Can't wait to learn more about PA from your blog: )
